When most of us think of Latin music, especially Salsa and Latin Jazz, we find that the Cuban rhythms are the commonly used forms. The heartbeat of the music is the clave, both as an instrument and rhythmic patterns.

The clave is the backbone of this music. But it’s more than just a rhythmic pattern or instrument, it’s a concept. It’s a way of thinking of the music that goes back to the African roots we find through out Latin American and the Caribbean. Once you uncover that mystery you will rejoice in the power and the magic that’s in Latin music.
