LP artist Dwight "The Professor" Baldwin earned his professor title from years of demonstrating his knowledge of Latin and Afro-Cuban rhythms while performing his clinics worldwide. The "Professor" uses a variety of percussion instruments, in an effective and entertaining method.
In addition to conducting numerous drum clinics around the globe, the "The Professor" teaches children of various cultural backgrounds the fundamentals of rhythm using drums of all types and sizes. In 1980, he served as an instructor at the Montreal Association for the Blind in Canada. He has since directed several hands-on drum workshops at the L.A. Kids Day at the Natural History Museum, the Quincy Jones' International Drum Workshops for children at the California Afro-American Museum, and the Los Angeles Unified School District and parochial schools all over Los Angeles, and neighboring counties in California.
Currently he is the Music Director/Performer for the California Museum of Science and Industry's and Science Comes Alive! a theatrical production. He continues to perform and tour demonstrating the quality and durability of LP instruments.
The Professor gives hands-on clinics throughout the year, and has recently completed his long awaited video project entitled The ABCs of Drumming which was released in Spring '97. The video features three of his talented children; dancing and playing percussion, proving that rhythm certainly does run in " The Professor's" family.
