Born
in Argentina, Norbert Goldberg began his professional career in New
York City. Norbert received a B.A. degree from Brooklyn College where
he studied with Morris Lang of the New York Philharmonic. He has
written extensively on percussion and drumset techniques. His articles
have appeared in Modern Drummer, where he originated the South of
the Border column, and in Percussive Notes as editor of the World
Percussion column. He edited LPs book Understanding
Latin Rhythms, and wrote for Garlands Encyclopedia of Percussion.
Norberts work on drumset and percussion encompasses
a wide spectrum of styles. He has worked with artists including Chita
Rivera, Sandy Duncan, Cleo Laine, Lalo Shifrin, Gerry Mulligan and
Grover Washington Jr. Broadway credits include Dancin, A Chorus
Line, Mail, Starlight Express, Kiss of the Spider Woman and Grease.
He also created and performed the percussion part for the hit show
Once On This Island.
