Go-Jo Bags emerged from LP’s collaboration with popular pioneering
drummer and LP
artist Stephen Perkins (Jane’s Addiction, Panic
Channel, Porno for Pyros). Truly fascinating in terms of technique
and sonic diversity, Go-Jo Bags have garnered countless accolades.
And just as they have won the hearts of percussionists and drumset
artists, they’ve earned a place in the methodology of music therapists.
With pride beaming, we’re happy to report that LP Go-Jo Bags
have won a Best of Show award at winter NAMM 2008.
When granting the esteemed award to this truly idiosyncratic percussion/fun
item, NAMM panelists cited the many attributes that make the LP/Perkins
Go-Jo Bag so attractive. Panelists noted that you can grasp the satchels
and shake them like maracas. Or slide them for a guiro-like glissando.
Or mute them with one hand to quiet the tough little munchkins within.
Two more and then you’re on your own: Smack them together for
a satisfying crunch or toss them upward and set a rainbow of tones
airborne!
Go-Jo Bags are new instruments each time you grasp them. Drummers
can strap them to their hands while playing kit for perfectly in-sync
percussion accompaniment! Innovative, durable and safe, they will attract
drummers ordinarily not disposed to percussion—drawn by the magnetism
surrounding Stephen Perkins or by the fun factor.
Of course, it’s all for naught if it costs an arm and a leg.
NAMM panelists cited the incredible retail price in their opening remarks.
LP Go-Jo Bags sell for a modest $10.00, an outlay that musicians will
dispense without blinking—particularly now that the rage is augmenting
drumsets with additional percussive voices.
In summary, LP Go-Jo Bags create seemingly infinite tones by means
of seemingly infinite variations in non-complex bodily movements. It
isn’t difficult to see why the entertaining and challenging Go-Jo
bags are now in the hands of therapists (and their patients!).
