Many players feel that there’s little to improve when it comes
to the LP Matador line. The marriage of attractive finishes, sturdy
resonant shells, quality heads and the modest price point make for
a potent combination—the reason that many discerning musicians
prefer Matadors to more expensive, premium instruments from other brands.
A few slaps on a well-tuned Matador conga tells the story eloquently.
When LP designers took a look at our Matador Timbales, they weren’t
out to alter a proven attribute—the tone. But they did want to
tweak the various nuts and bolts that add up to creature comfort. Accordingly,
the newly improved LP Matador Timbales feature their proven traditional
sound for cascara, center-of-head and rimshot applications, but they
now come with redesigned mounts, an upper stand post with a superior
tilter, and an exceptional cowbell bracket. The latter, incidentally,
is not just stronger; it allows players to mount multiple percussion
items on a single post.
Available in 14” and 15” shells, and 10” and 12” as
well, all are 6 ½” deep, for a traditional range of tones,
the pair of drums is accompanied by an improved heavy-duty, height-adjustable,
tilting chromed floor stand. Three attractive drum shell finishes are
available: brass, brushed nickel and chrome. A tuneful Matador cowbell
is also included, as is a cowbell bracket, tuning wrench and timbale
sticks.
A good thing, a very good thing, just got better, thanks to LP engineers
keeping an eye on the finer details. That’s why the LP Matador
percussion series gets the accolades.
