Releasing an independent CD is risky at best, especially if one opts
to release all live tracks "as-is", without overdubs or re-recording.
Such requirements would seem prerequisite for an authentic live recording,
but few musicians are bold enough to actually cross that boundary. Yet drummer
and LP endorser Joey Heredia,
with bandmembers Marco Mendoza and Renato Neto, have opted to do so with their
latest cd, "Live in LA" and with outstanding results.
The CD contains imaginative arrangements of popular tunes written by such masters as James Brown and Stevie Wonder, along with some inspired original composition. The excitement of live performance, coupled with unique arrangements makes for a truly funky and uplifting recording. Heredia's breathtaking drumming style breathes in every song, and is second only to actually seeing the band in person.
