HAWTHORNE CABALLEROS SENIOR
DRUM AND BUGLE CORPS WIN TOP HONORS

Hawthorne CabellerosLongtime LP artists The Hawthorne Caballeros Senior Drum and Bugle Corps won their 9th Drum Corps Associates (DCA) title and 16th American Legion National title at the August 31, 2003 DCA Champion-ship Finals in Scranton, PA. In addition, the New Jersey-based Caballeros’ entire bass drum line won the Best Showmanship award.

"We are very proud of the honors we earned at this year’s DCA Finals," says Caballeros Drum Major/LP endorser Paul Bongiovi. "The entire corps is committed to the art of drumming and drum education, and we hope to inspire future generations of drummers to carry on the tradition."

The Hawthorne Caballeros, founded in 1946 by James J. Costello, Jr., are in their 57th season of competition and have amassed a remarkable host of records, including winning the National Dream Contest 17 times and the New Jersey State American Legion Title 43 times. They have completed five undefeated seasons, consecutively in 1984 and 1985. They have ranked in the top 3 placements at the DCA World Championship 30 times in 38 appearances, a clear indicator of the Caballeros consistency for excellence on the drum corps field. In 1989, during DCA's 25th Anniversary season, fans voted the Caballeros their favorite Senior Drum and Bugle Corps of all time.
