Karl Perazzo, Vinnie Colaiuta & Kevin Ricard
Talk about a wicked rhythm section! Take LA based percussionist and recording artist Kevin Ricard, unite him with famed Santana percussionist Karl Perazzo, then anchor them with drummers' drummer Vinnie Colaiuta and you have as potent and exciting a unit as it gets!
That's precisely the line up that graced the recent Latin Grammys Recording Academy Person of the Year tribute to Carlos Santana. Ricard, Perazzo, and Colaiuta are all LP artists who play a range of LP instruments from cowbells to, in Perazzo's case, signature instruments. On stage at the tribute to Sanatana, they joined a who's who of jazz, Latin, and pop artists, including Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Rob Thomas, Dave Matthews, La Ley, Julieta Venegas and Dave Koz, to name but a few.
Recently, Kevin Ricard has been particularly busy, dividing his time between sessions and live dates. Speaking of the latter, he was part of the house band for the radio station KJLH Summer Jazz Jam in L.A. where he backed up Patty Austin, James Ingram, Patrice Rushen, and others.
Karl Perazzo, who has been a member of Santana since 1991, has continuing duties, while Vinnie Colaiuta holds the distinction of being one of the world's most diverse and accomplished drummers, recording and touring with such noted artists as Frank Zappa, Sting, Chick Corea and Quincy Jones.
LP salutes the recent activities of Kevin, Karl, and Vinnie, and, of course, we add our voice to the chorus of salutes to our longtime friend, Carlos Santana.
