Mike Palmer & LP Have "Friends in Low Places"

Brooks

By Steve Nigohosian

From the opening notes of Garth Brooks' hit song "Friends In Low Places," LP artist and drummer Mike Palmer and guitarist/background singer Debbie Nims groove with their LP instruments behind one of the most popular Country singers of his time. Palmer, who has been Garth Brooks' drummer for several years, has an assortment of LP Jam Blocks, Blast Blocks, timbales, and other gear on his drumset. When not playing acoustic guitar, Debbie Nims alternates between her LP Rock Shakers and LP Cyclops Tambourines. The band recently traveled up North to play several sold out shows in Philadelphia, proving that Brooks' music knows no boundaries.

In addition to performing the show encapsulated on in a plexiglas, cockpit-shaped stage, affectionately referred to by fellow band members as the "cage". Palmer also keeps in shape by running around the entire stage in between songs to shake hands with concert attendees. Of course, the strong plexiglas stage rotates and rises at certain times during the show, giving the entire audience a good look at Palmer's drumming prowess.
