Cassio Duarte

Cassio DuarteCassio Duarte was born in Southern Brazil, where he started playing in Marching Bands and neighborhoods Samba Schools at age 13. In 1979 moved to Rio de Janeiro to study at the Villa Lobos School of Music and work with Brazilian stars like Moraes Moreira, João Bosco and Djavan. Later he took private lessons in the Bahia section of Brazil, where Afro-Brazilian roots are strong.

His search for knowledge of different styles, brought him to Los Angeles in 1991, where besides being an active studio musician for movie's soundtracks and albums (due to his versatility), had a chance to work with people like Toots Thielemans, Lee Ritenour, Sergio Mendes, Strunz & Farah, Brenda Russell, Angelique Kidjo, Googoosh, Paul Winter, Ivan Lins and many others . He also has an extensive experience teaching at places like Sangeet School of World Music, The Music Center of L.A., U.C.L.A. and LAMA Music Academy.
