Rodolfo PachecoFor the past thirteen years, Rodolfo Pacheco's playing has colored the beautiful melodies of the Gipsy Kings. In the studio and on the road, his playing compliments the bands beautiful acoustic guitars and lyrics. Pacheco has always played LP instruments and feels they are a key part of his playing.

Rodolfo began his musical career performing in the carnivals of Baranquilla, Colombia, playing traditional Colombian hand drums. "I loved the music at the carnivals because of the different cultural mixes, including African, Indian and European," he says. His later influences include the Fania All Stars, El Gran Combo, Patato, Mongo Santamaria, and Candido.

Rodolfo's first big gig was a five-year stint with the acclaimed dance company, Ballet Nacional de Colombia. He moved to France in 1977, giving up his dreams of a soccer career and concentrating on his musical career. Soon he began performing with musicians like Azuquita, Tito Puente, Patato, Tata Guines, and Jose Manqual, Jr.

Rodolfo has recorded with many top artists, including the album that features an exciting mix of Arabic and Latin rhythms by Moroccan artist, Sammy Goz. He is currently touring with the Gipsy Kings, and has worked on numerous televised concerts including their live recording, Compas.
