PABLO PADIN

Pablo PadinNew York-born timbalero Pablo Padin, who now resides in Puerto Rico, is one of the important components of salsa balladeer Gilberto SantaRosa’s rhythm and percussion section. Pablo, who began playing percussion at the young age of three, had his first lessons in percussion from his father, Pablo Padin, Sr., who is a respected timbalero in his own right. Pablo then studied percussion in Los Angeles several years later, and after moving to Puerto Rico in 1989, continued his studies at Inter-Americana University in San German. At this time, Pablo began professional gigging around the Island, particularly with the singer Nino Segara, in addition to many other working bands.

In 1996, Pablo was performing with Johnny Rivero when he was offered to join Gilbert SantaRosa’s band. To this day, Pablo has traveled the world with SantaRosa, and is an integral part of the music, along with fellow LP artists/bandmateRafael "Tito" Echevarria on bongos. Pablo has recorded on more than five of SantaRosa’s albums, and when not performing live or recording with him, he works with producer Jose Lugo (Puerto Rican Power and Victor Manuelle) on Ricky Martin projects and the like.

Pablo has been an LP artist for more than six years, and appreciates the sound and innovation of LP’s products, as well as the aesthetic appeal of the instruments. Pablo is especially partial to LP’s Bronze Tito Puente Timbales, which he describes as "a combination of warm tones and sharp attack", perfect for complementing the music of Gilberto SantaRosa.
