Longtime LP artist/clinician Jim Greiner performed and taught workshops
on April 25th, 26th and 27th at the 15th Annual World Rhythm Festival
in Seattle, Washington. Jim’s workshops included “Congas:
Tumbao & Beyond In Contemporary Musical Styles” and “Shekeré For
Performance, Drum Circles & Recreation”. He also gave one-on-one
lessons to attendees that included congas, djembe and a variety of
hand percussion instruments, as well as giving tips on organizing and
presenting community drumming activities and using drumming for corporate
team-building.
Jim also performed on the World Rhythm Festival’s main stage with
a wide range of musicians from India, Africa, Brazil, North America
and Europe. LP sponsored Greiner’s appearance and donated an LP
Aspire Conga for the festival’s benefit raffle.
The World Rhythm Festival in Seattle is produced by the Seattle
World Percussion Society and brings in over 100
performances and participatory drum and dance workshops from the
world music traditions of Africa, Cuba, Brazil, India, America, the
Middle East and more. The event’s
activities are free to the thousands of attendees of all ages who come
to learn, play and dance each year.
